Well - a lot has happened over the past 5 weeks - and too be honest I don't think I realised just how big some of my days have been until I listed them this way!
Due to time, winter and weather my bike rides have all been on my bike set up on my wind trainer and spread over a couple of sessions on any given day. I break up the sessions to fit around family commitments, as well as to relieve boredom and my backside!!
The list below doesn't include my Tuesday and Thursday PT sessions either (pity I can't work out a way to count those in kms :-) )
My running is coming together now and I am now up to running 18+km. I have just under three weeks until my next event - The Age - Run Melbourne Half Marathon - which means one more long run of 18-20km, a taper week and then the 21.1km of the Half Marathon. I am not as fast as I would like to be at this stage, but given the bumpy start I have had I am just happy to be making the distances and hope to improve my time as my challenge progresses.
Week 9 was supposed to be Event 3, the Whittlesea Classic - however revolting wet winter weather put a stop to that. Having made the effort and travelled to Melbourne for the event, my friend Pete and I found a gym at Whittlesea and did some kms inside, Pete on the treadmill and me on the bike and elliptical machine all while wearing my 3/4 merino cycling knicks as I didn't have any other sports gear to wear. Bike knicks with their squishy chamois really aren't meant for regular exercise!

Week 10 - 13 are a bit of a blur now to be honest but I can't ignore the moment that I think I finally 'clicked' with my running form. After my visit to my osteopath, one of the other Osteo's offered to show me their 'Anti-Gravity' treadmill. A 'what?' you ask - an anti-gravity treadmill! This fandangled device allowed me to experience almost weightlessness and allowed the osteo to help me experience myself running 'properly'. Having experienced how it feels to run this way I was able to modify my form when running outside, and since that day I have had no pain! My form is still not perfect, and when I get tired I feel myself returning to old habits - but over time and perhaps another turn on this fancy-pants treadmill - I think I might finally 'get it' :-)
For the most part the Albury winter weather has been kind......... well....... at least I am coping with it at the moment. The bike and trainer have gone from the deck, to the shed and have now moved inside due to the cold, but for the past few weekends I have enjoyed at least one sunny day over the weekend to complete my long run. I am sure I have just jinxed myself now and will have to run the half marathon in torrential rain....... geeeez I hope not tho!!
I don't think there is anything else newsworthy as such to note at this stage - except of course to say that I have now passed the 1000km mark, have 64 likes on Facebook and have raised over $500.
