Help 1 woman out of poverty and she will bring 4 with her....
Women and girls can create lasting change if they have the opportunity to gain an education, access health services, generate an income, and take a lead in their community.
Educating girls has cascading benefits. Educated women are:
• less likely to die in childbirth
• more likely to have healthy babies
• more likely to send their children to school
• better able to protect their children from HIV, trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Put simply, educating women and girls provides the single highest return on investment in the developing world."

CARE Australia works in a number of countries, one of them being Timor Leste. Timor Leste is 3755km from Albury with an adult literacy rate of only 58.6%, and only 69% of the population has access to improved drinking water and 50% have access to sanitation facilities.
These facts and learning more about CARE Australia and their work, inspired me to want help them continue to make a difference to the lives of women and girls in the developing world, especially in Timor Leste. I have pledged to complete 3755km in training and chosen events to raise awareness and $10,000 for CARE Australia and Timor Leste by December 1st, 2013.
I hope you will join me and support this fantastic cause!
"CARE is an international humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring about lasting change to their communities. We believe supporting women and girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities." CARE Australia
CARE Australia spent 88% of total expenditure on overseas programs in 2012, 7% on fundraising and only 5% being used towards administration.
"CARE International has ranked seventh among 100 non-government organisations (NGOs), according to the Top 100 NGOs list of the Global Journal. CARE was also globally ranked second among NGOs involved in humanitarian relief work.
The Global Journal’s ranking of top 100 NGOs is the only international ranking of its kind, according to the magazine and informs policy-makers, academics, business and non-profit leaders. CARE Australia - News"
